Orion Nation does not allow Politcal Parties. The past showed that a political party is usually working in self interest ( maintaining power, keeping the party alive ) instead in the interest of the citizens .
Instead we define leading / power positions and vote potential candidates directly.
We see holding and executing these positions as one of the highest honors you can achieve in the Orion Nation.
You can therefore not vote yourself into these positions ( as honor has to be given and earned not taken )
A commission is vetting citizens as potential candidates based on their trustfulness, their psychological eval, their education, and other character related traits. Then the commission will introduce 3 candidates for each power position and announce them ( the citizen itself was not aware of this honor until now ). Now all citizens have the obligation to vet each candidate. Each candidate gets a chance to present him/herself in a set of official podium interviews.
After that the citizen will vote officially ( not anonymously ) for a candidate and state the reason ( making the voting citizen accountable for their decision ).
In a ceremony all winning andidates will then officially be called into their positions. And celebrated
The candidates then start a 1 Year training / eval phase on which they learn from their prepressor their tasks and challenges.
The candidates hold their position for 5 Years.
All prepessors and many experienced/specializes other citizens form a lasting council of knowledge. This council will help to guide candidates in their positions, but also monitor the candidates and them self, to prevent any misconduct or corruption.
